—Is there nowhere Apple will not expand its line of silvery wood-accented retail stores? Glass cubes in Manhattan. Multi-story facades on Boylston in Boston. And now, piling on New York again, Apple is set to descend on Grand Central.

The $800,000/year rent is a smidge higher than what the previous tenant, restaurant Mtrazur, was paying (“only $300,000), and will create about $5 million per year in profit.

The location will be undoubtedly iconic as well, with Apple having secured a 10-year lease ( a rarity in the cutthroat Grand Central real estate scheme). Renovations on the location are planned. Could they be spaceship-shaped, or is that reserved for just Cupertino, I wonder? [Electronista]
