I had to admit that I like the very concept of the Actiontec MyWirelessTV. It is a way of wirelessly linking something like a cable or satellite Box or DVR to any HDTV.
I got a chance to see it work for myself, and I was pretty amazed at the ease of it. All I did was connect the transmitter to my computer, the receiver to my TV, and suddenly, what was on my laptop screen was on my TV. And it worked instantly, from the moment that it was plugged in.
The MyWirelessTV has two modes. The first is the IR extender which allows the user to use one’s remote control virtually anywhere. The other is the USB extender, to connect a computer in one room to an HDTV in another.
It comes with a remote control, and the user has the option to add additional transmitters and receivers anytime. This allows the user to access Blu-ray players, game consoles, computers, and other HDMI devices with this device.
Devices like these make me wonder if we are truly looking at a wireless future where all video devices will simply be tucked away and wirelessly transmitting to all the monitors in the house. Surely this is happening already somewhere.
You should be able to get the Actiontec MyWirelessTV for about $229.99 from places like Best Buy.
